Candle Care & Safety
-
Before Burning
- Prior to lighting your candle, trim the charred wick with scissors, a trimmer, or pinch off the burnt wood each time. This allows a consistent, even burn and prevents a self-extinguishing candle or uneven burning.
- Avoid any flammable objects, drafts, and debris, including the floral decor, matches, and/or wick trimmings. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning and sooting.Â
-
While Burning
- The first burn of an all-natural candle is the most important. Please ensure the first burn reaches as close to a full melt pool as possible to prevent tunneling. A full melt pool is when the top layer of wax is fully melted from wick to container. This may take 2 - 4 hrs during the first light. Burn for 1-3 hours every use after the 1st burn.Â
- Note the performance of your candle. If the wooden wick is not burning evenly, please read the wick troubleshooting guide, located below.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended or lit while sleeping. If you decide to leave the room for an extended period or go to bed, make sure to extinguish your candle.
- Never touch or move a burning candle. Never move a candle when the wax is still liquid. Our glass vessel can reach extreme temperatures that are too hot to handle.
- Our candles burn until there is no wax left! However, to keep this from being a fire hazard, please extinguish the flame and further use when there is 1/4" or less wax remaining.
-
When Extinguishing
- If available, use a candle snuffer to extinguish your candle. This prevents the hot wax from splattering or spilling. If unavailable, blow out your candle as light as possible.
- Do NOT use water to extinguish your candle flame. This could cause the wax to splatter or potentially crack the glass vessel. It's also important to remember wax and water do not mix, therefore water can damage the integrity of the candle.
- Before leaving your candle unattended, make sure there is NO ember/glow coming from the wood wick.
- Do NOT touch or move your candle until the wax has cooled and solidified.

How to Trim
To ensure the best experience with your candles, trim your wick before each light. Simply use a wick trimmer to cut off the charred wood. If you do not have a trimmer, use scissors or your fingers to pinch away any charred wood. Remember, burnt wood wont stay lit!
Why Trim?
-
Ensures a healthy flame height
Half an inch (1/2") to one (1") inch flame height is normal. If left untrimmed the flame can become too tall, becoming a serious fire hazard.
-
Prevents Soot
Soot can build up around candle vessel or on nearby walls or items in your home. It is natural for burning wood to leave some soot, however it is non-toxic and non-hazardous. Be intentional about where you place your candle!
-
Ensures proper scent throw
When the candle flame is too high, it creates more heat within its vessel. The added heat could evaporate the fragrance oils quicker which can lead to a weaker scent throw.
